WIN your way to a pair of Your Favourite Sunglasses!

Shopping for shades can be daunting. Shapes, colours, lenses…oh and what about which brand?

I think I have uncovered one of the best sites for sunglasses shopping in Australia – Your Favourite Sunglasses.

This up-and-coming Aussie retailer have realised that the disparity of prices on the net for sunnies can be quite large, and sadly, what costs $400 in Oz can be found online in some random country for $150.

I hate it when that happens!

YFS take current styles and high-end brands and sell them in Australia for crazy discounts. But not dodgy discounts. Their prices are on par with what our friends in the Northern Hemisphere would pay on a daily basis. The best part about this site is that all items are dispatched from Sydney (You wait just ONE DAY for dispatch and can enjoy FREE express delivery!) and they have a 30 day returns policy – so you can make sure the shades are right for you and buy with confidence.

They often hold sale events that give customers discounts up to a whopping 75%, and navigating around the site is super-easy. You can browse by shape, brand or style.

These are my picks from the current range, click the caption to buy!

Net-A-Bargain!

Net-A-Porter are having a serious sale, and you won’t wanna miss it.

Traditionally, I’ve always been turned off by the exxy nature of Net-A-Porter. The prices were always in pounds, which then converted to an astronomical Aussie dollar which mad me very sad by the end of my browsing experience.

However, I did a ‘haul’ online yesterday and raided their amazing sale!

I wanted to buy so so soooo much more, but reigned it in to include the essentials. (HA!)

Here are my top picks from the 80% off range – you can pick up some ridiculous bargains!

My fave part? All items I’ve chosen below are under $200. You can’t afford not to!

Pine Lime Love!

Oh no. It was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Or – the piece that broke my 12-day-strong abstinence from shopping!

I felt BORED! i wanted some FUN! So I popped along to Incu in my lunch break. The S A L E emblazoned on the window caused me to raise an eyebrow. Could this be enough to make me want to unzip my wallet?

It was! I found this simply diviiiiiiine ANTIPODIUM sweater on sale for HALF PRICE! I was a bit dubious of the armpit holes at first, (see below) but I love a good fash-challenge, so decided to try it on.

Image

Lion attack on the armpits? Or Fash-forward funky?

The colour is so fresh, and the holes, well, they are tres cool! Apparently, the collection was inspired by the flick Riding in Cars With Boys… so 50’s and all about the sweater.

I’m so in love, theres even a hint of a fluro pink weave in the material. A great purchase, don’tcha think?

We’re all going on a summer holiday…

The sun is shining, the air is balmy and the last place you feel like being is at work!

Never fear, the Christmas holidays are just around the corner – and if you don’t have to work, chances are you have travel plans for the break.

Whether it’s two nights down the coast or an adventure to another hemisphere (ME ME ME!), you’ll be stuffing all of your worldy possessions into a bag. To get you thinking about your holiday wardrobe and perhaps provide some distraction from your day job check out my top 3 summer holiday essentials that are travel friendly and fashion forward.

1. The T-Shirt Dress

This bad boy will rollup in your suitcase like a dream, and is perfect to chuck on over a bikini this summer. Try to aim for one that is crinkle-proof…that way you won’t need to get the iron out. I love this dress from online store Showpo… I bought it in grey and have travelled in it before. Rock it with a hot pink lip and you’ll be the envy of all the beach babes – even if you aren’t one.

2. The Super-Cool Shades

You’ll be wearing these all day to visit shops, beaches and restaurants, so you will want a pair of funky sunnies to top off your look. I lusted after a Celine pair for ages – only to discover they were too big for my face. DAMN! Yes, great news that my head is small, bad news that i’ll have to go back to the drawing board to find another pair I love as much as my Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses that are tired, word and ready to retire. These KW frames are awesome…but they will probably fit your face and not mine! (sob)

3. The Summery Sandals

The perfect summer shoe hinges largely (for me, anyway) it’s wear-ability with my entire summer wardrobe. I just don’t think you can go past a tan, orange or turquoise shoe when planning what to pack for your beach getaway. A good-quality leather, flat sandal can take you from day to night, and will save some valuable space in your suitcase – no need for other shoes! I love these Indie sandals, so comfy and still, so stylish!

Are you ready for this jelly?

As summer approaches, the need for fun footwear is at the top of every gals list. I have long been a pioneer of the jelly shoe, and am delighted to see them come back onto the fash scene with such a vengeance this summer.

Specifically, i’ve loved the Vivienne Westwood by Melissa range. It’s been around for ages, and I have to say each new collection never disappoints. I have a pair of jelly heels and countless pairs of jelly flats… they are so comfy and smell amazing! When I ask people to smell my shoe it’s often met with disgusted and puzzled looks but those who do take me up on my seemingly strange offer are just so excited when they get a whiff of the bubblegum-scented plastic Melissa uses!

It’s ingenious!

But, steering away from my love of The Viv by Mel range, I’ve had a scout round for the best jelly shoes of the season. From luxe to less, these shoes will make you smile, and prepare your tootsies for the warmer weather ahead.

Heart & Soul

Burberry has always been known for it’s iconic check print.

Usually it’s met with divided responses – some think it’s an upmarket, beautifully Brit brand, others stand firm on it’s place in Chav society.

Whether you like it or not, open your mind and check out  the new heart print they’ve bought out this year….I for one, LOVE it.

I’m calling it now, and suggesting Heart Print is going to be a big trend in the months to come. When researching, I saw a lot of UK and international sites are stocking apparel with the print, but it hasn’t quite come over the seas just yet for us Aussie shoppers.
Never fear though, if you want to wear the print you can shop online for these items to get the look – without spending the big bucks on the Burbs.

I can see Clearly now!

When I started this blog I hoped to share my insights about fashion and how to look good without spending a fortune on an outfit.

I guess bargain hunting must run through my veins because my savvy shopping extends much more than clothes, shoes and bags – I also like to shop around for life’s necessities.

For example – glasses!

I used to be the kid in the back row at school squinting at the board.

Then I was that same kid in the middle row.

But it was only when I sat front and centre and still couldn’t see the board I knew it was time to accept my fate and go get a pair of dreaded specs!

Ohhhkay. This is just getting ridiculous now...

Ohhhkay. This is just getting ridiculous now…

Glasses today don’t carry the (a)stigma (geddit?!) as they used to. Nerd can be chic…and when investing in your glasses  you can afford to choose something a little special.

Setting out to find good quality yet inexpensive frames proved quite easy when I went online to visit Clearly Contacts (www.clearlycontacts.com.au)

WOWZA!

Frames are sooooo reasonable and the range is pretty impressive…Literally HUNDREDS of frame jump out at you.

Start your search by frame, designer, style or material…helpful for those fashion conscious or those looking for a particular shape.

Still unsure of what suits you? Upload a picture of yourself to virtually try on frames or you can wing it like I did.

If you know your prescription you can punch it in, or simply head out for an eye test – they are bulk billed. Once you’ve got the numbers you can fill in the details into the form. It’s super easy, and if you are having a trouble a customer service rep is on hand ready to answer your enquiry.

prescription

Maybe this isn’t the sight (oh wow I’m full of the bad puns today!) you want if getting glasses is a maiden voyage, but for old professionals like myself it was a walk in the park.

Clearly Contacts stock contacts too, (duh!) and the glasses dept. features brands such as Gucci, Marc by Marc Jacobs and Lacoste.

Check out my pair – a funky brand called LOVE. They were $89 and I think are pretty jazzy.

Or- if you are more traditional, check my friend Jen’s specs- so professional! These R. Hardy frames retail at  $89 also.

The mobile shopping revolution: eBaying on the toilet!

You are not alone. I am here with you… And so are a whopping 62% of Aussies, who identify themselves as shopaholics.

This week marks 5th anniversary of mobile online shopping with eBay, something pretty much all of us have done at one stage or another, with the app being downloaded over 100 million times globally.

WOAH.

Mobile shopping has revolutionised the way we shop. You can be on the bus, in your bed, or even on the toilet!

Apparently 26% of men have been inspired to do this, along with 18% percent of women…

I know we are time poor but really? 🙂

Many stores have developed easy to navigate apps for shopping so you’re not constantly battling with the browser on your phone. These apps help you keep track of your purchase and make the shopping experience from a mobile device a seamless experience.

Also easier, mobile shopping has a bit of an art form to it, and Shopping expert Kathy Sheeran shares with us some of her tips and tricks:

1. “Make sure you never miss out on a must-have item by ensuring the App’s notifications are set to ‘on’.” This can be changed in your settings.

2. Sell unwanted items to make room for new ones. “Use your smartphone’s camera to take a picture and upload it straight to your listing.” Simple, huh!

3. Set reminders so you don’t miss out on flash sales.

4. Use social media such as FB or Pintrest for inspo. “Make a collection of your must-have items so when searching on the bus or train, you’ve got an easy to find reference point.”

And lastly, but most importantly…

5. Shop safely! Kathy recommends signing up for a PayPal account, which allows you to make a safe, easy and traceable transactions.

What are some of your greatest eBay purchases? I’d love to see them! Comment here, send me an email to dsentfinds@gmail.com or hit me up on my Facebook page. X
